Did you get this in the mail too?

Bed, Bath, & Uh oh

Ok…like we’re all not self-conscious enough. Yeah the holidays are coming and that means LOTS of good food. Well, it means lots of good food for those of you that are not on the fish sticks/tuna/Ramen Diet like me. BUT I digress….

That scales says UH-OH on it. WTF! I mean, come on now. The owner of those slender little feet probably weighs alot less than me and I weigh 160lbs. Yeah that’s right. I’ve got some meat on my bones and I’m proud of it.

You guys might think I’m crazy, but its subtle things like this that giant corporations get away with. That’s a GREAT way to sell a scale (sarcasm…in case you missed it). Sell people people buffet sets that make and/or hold WAY TOO MUCH food. And then show skinny people getting on a scale that says UH-OH and YIKES. Wow…..the shit they get away with. I hope that you all are not going to buy a scale. Fuck it. And Fuck Bed, Bath, & Beyond.  I hope they go out of business like Linens ‘n Things.  Ass holes.

I’m Terrified of The Outcome

Am I the only one that is scared and/or anxious about what Election Day will bring? I am an Obama supporter and I am starting to get the Election Day Jitters.

First, everyone has their opinion about the elections and I think we’re all pretty sick of the whole thing. I know I am. At the same time, I do not want November 4, 2008 to be over just yet. This is a historical election….which is getting old too. I am just scared of having another four years of Bush-like policies. I am scared of Prop 4 & 8. I am scared that my right to choose to have an abortion will be taken away. I am scared that the price of my birth control will surge even higher. I’m just plan scared.

I’m scared of how disappointed Obama supporters will be if he doesn’t win. I’m also scared of what McCain and Palin will do to this country.

Sure…many people are basing their votes on stem cell/abortion/gay marriage/other stupid things that are not as important as education/the economy/or the environment. That is scary. To me, that means that the church and religious beliefs are too involved in our government. But that was already obvious, right? Don’t get me wrong…I think everyone should have the right to do what they see fit with their relationships and bodies. I’m pro-choice and pro-let everyone live their private lives the way they want. It is just scary that these “freedoms” can be taken away so easily and people are basing their very important votes on situations that should be PERSONAL decisions for each individual.

I’m not usually one to talk politics, but as a woman of color, I am scared for my future. I am college educated, but I am eating fish sticks and ramen noodles every day. George Bush thought it would be a good idea to raise the interest on student loans right before I graduated from college. Yeah….talk about having bad credit.

Anyway, I am done “complaining.” I just hope that everyone that hasn’t already voted gets a chance to, whether they vote for that scary old man and his scary female VP or they vote for Obama or for Rosa Clemente and Cynthia McKinney of the Green Party. I just HOPE that….people make the right choice for our country! Leave your religion out of it for a minute.

Oh and to all you employers! Let you employees go vote!

Ok….I hope you all are less anxious/excited/scared than I am. :)

Don’t ASSUME

Here’s my other issue with Christianity. You all (not ALL Christiains…don’t get all Butt-hurt about it…gosh, whiney babies) think that just because of ONE blog entry I am basing my entire distaste for a religion off ONE quote from The Bible. No….hello…..I’m not that ignorant. Ugh.

I have 25 years of reasons I do not go along with Christianity. I love how Christians will quote The Holy Freakin’ Bible for one thing and then say, “Well, you can’t take it literally.” Oh yeah? Well, you worship alongside a book that is anti-gay, anti-women, and NOT even close to anti-slavery. But you only pick the parts that you want to listen to. Don’t use that book as your cornerstone if you don’t agree with ALL of it. Find a new book or make your own. The “Holy” Bible was written by men anyway. Yeah, those same men that say God told them to do it. I don’t believe that either.

It’s fine with me if you need religion in your life for guidance. That’s fine. Just don’t assume that I need the same things you do. That’s your business, just like it’s mine if I wanna explore other options.

I have gotten alot of shit about what I wrote. Guess what? I don’t take it back. I MEANT EVERY FUCKING WORD!!!!!

Another reason I don’t like Christianity, besides the fact that it’s hypocrisy in 90000000 different ways? Because I’m pretty sure that book says you’re supposed to love everybody…except gay people, except transgender people, and it is ok to have slaves. Black people do not think it’s ok to have slaves, I’m sure. Yet…YOU HAVE A BIBLE THAT SAYS OTHERWISE!!!! Hmmmm. Just saying.

At this point I think I am just pissing people off and that’s cool. Just don’t assume that by quoting one verse I dislike Christianity because of a fundamentalist interpretation. That’s not it. The book actually SAYS that. It was not my interpretation.

And I don’t have anything against people that LOVE their Christianity or any other religion. Just stop trying to shove it in my damn face and tell me that I should love it too. Cuz I don’t.

Moving on.
